I am Abe Stone, the life design coach, at Coaching Really Works.

Today, I want to delve into a little bit deeper into one of the topics that I had brought up earlier and I introduced you to the book – The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod.

Now, he shared something called The Life S.A.V.E.R.S™ and the first one is S—silence.

I would like to get into it a little bit more, not so much to explain the benefits or to talk so much about meditation itself, but just to give you a quick meditation that you can start using right away to turn your mornings around, to start your day off or even just to stop and and de-stress.

Prepare to Release Your Addictive Thoughts

Recently, someone explained to me as the Release Technique and I like that idea because one of the main challenges that I have had with meditation is being able to let go of my thoughts.

My mind is just so busy, it is always running, always going somewhere thinking about the future. Now here is a quick outline.

First, make sure that you have undisturbed time, just sit down somewhere get comfortable. Make sure that you are not too comfortable. You might want to get out of your bed so you don’t fall asleep but just get comfortable somewhere.

I like to put on music.

Second, I would suggest that you have some soft music playing in the background, something that would not be too engaging or too distracting and at a volume that is not going to be overwhelming you.

Ready to Access Your Meditative State?

Once you have the music set up just close your eyes and take time to relax.

First of all you can do this by just breathing in and counting to three. Breathe in and then hold it for three seconds and then breathe out. And that is a great way to start the de-stressing process.

The next thing is, when you have your eyes close and you are taking that breath —maybe you can do it a couple of times, if you feel that you are having a hard time getting relaxed and focused— once you are focused and you are there in the moment, you simply start saying the word “release”.

I like using that word because it puts your focus on your voice, and it is something that you are repeating, it is calm and it keeps you from getting engaged in your thoughts.

Now, if you find that a thought comes into your mind, just simply say again “release” and do it again, “release”.

You may get to the point where you don’t even need music or you don’t even need to say release. You can just close your eyes, breathe deeply and you will be in that moment of meditation and you will be able to just let those thoughts go. In the beginning when you are first starting out the habit is not that good and the tendency to be distracted is really strong.

Meditation Quick Start List

So use these simple steps:

Find a quite place

Put on some music

Breath

Have a mantra that you say, it could be another word if you do not like release.

With these simple steps, you are well on your way to meditation.

So I suggest that you try it right away even if it is in the middle of a busy day.

See if you can find a room, some place quite, sit down, relax and let your worries go. You can do it for one minute, your can do it for five minutes, you can do it for twenty minutes and I am almost certain that as you go on, you are going to enjoy it and want to do it for even longer periods of time.

I am still in the beginner stages myself. I am somewhere between five and twenty minutes.

So here is a little quote on Silence and Meditation

Silence is the sleep that nourishes wisdom.”

Francis Bacon

And the affirmation for today is

There is profound power in my stillness. I cherish all moments of silence.”

I hope you find this quick how to on meditation a help for you and I hope that seeing the simplicity of it and the ease with which it is possible to meditate a motivation to get started and incorporate it into your life and into your mornings.

I would love to hear what your experience has been with meditation or if you have any other tips or insights that you would like to share with other readers please leave a comment in the comment section below.

If you are watching this video anywhere else, I would like to invite you to come over to my blog www.CoachingReallyWorks.com and check out some of my posts there.

I would love to see you there!

This is Abe Stone, the life design coach at Coaching Really Works.

It may be a Catch-22 to think of using meditation to improve my focus and clarity, when I might be diagnosed with ADD/ADHD if I were to get tested.
