I love the new year and the challenge that it brings. I like to look ahead to see that its just this clean slate.
There is so much potential, so many things that I can get done. It really is an exciting time for me.
Hi I am Abe Stone, a life design coach at coachingreallyworks.com
Today, I would like to give you this incredible tool that you can use to make 2015 your best year yet.
Two Questions To Ask Yourself
Just yesterday I sat down and I was looking over my business, the work that I do in coaching, personal development, the website, and different things and I was looking at it and there were two questions that I brought up and I put them on the board. The are really simple. The first one is:
- “What went well?”
So I looked over the year, I looked over the statistics, I looked over all kinds of things, the posts, the interactions, the products that I have been working on and developing and I made a long list and I was really amazed.
It was actually a lot bigger than I anticipated.
Then I asked the second question:
- “What can I do better?”
The Power of a Positive Perspective
Now, there is something really important about asking questions in this way, in a positive way, because the mind goes to work, finding solutions in a positive way, when we use positive questions.
“What can I do? What can I do better?” rather than looking over the past year and thinking, “What went wrong? How did I miss it? What was not working?”
When you take it and you turn around and you put it in a positive light then it becomes so much easier to get engaged and think about solutions and to look forward to doing something about them and making the next year an even greater year.
How to Use These Question to Set Yourself Up for a Great Year?
I would like to suggest that you can use these two questions to sit down, this next week, or maybe over this weekend that is coming up and just ask yourself these two simple questions and look at how the last year went.
You can look at it in different areas. You can look at your personal life. You can look at your work life, in your family or maybe as a spouse and your relationships.
When you look at things that worked, be sure to take sometime celebrate and get excited. Get excited about the things that went well, how they went well and maybe even celebrated with a friend if it was something that they were involved in or maybe your with your coworkers. Find a way to really make them significant.
Set SMART Goals
Something that you are going to want to do at this point is that you are going to want to set goals for the next year and I have a post that I put up earlier about setting emotional goals that move you, with a brief outline of what SMART goals are. So, you can look that up. I will put the link to it in the notes below.
Another post that you might find interesting is the one I made about life balance and I will put a link to it in the notes below as well.
And now I would like to give you a really great quote that you can put up to remind yourself about these ideas.
What gets measured gets improved”
Robin Sharma (Read The Greatness Guide)
And now for the affirmation for this week:
I recognize the barriers to achieving my goals and I move around them, over them and through them.”
Go ahead and make a comment in the comment section below. I would love to hear from you. I would love to hear what your goals are, what your ideas are for next year, even if you just want to say hi, I would really like to hear from you.
