Find Your Key To Experiencing Unstoppable Progress Toward Your Goal

It can be embarrassing, or at least discouraging, to set a goal, work towards it, and and fail to reach it. At some point, in anything that we are doing, there seems to be a challenge getting started and staying focused.

Forget Getting Your Ducks in a Row

Will you ever be ready? …I mean really ready. So often we stop short of doing some things or making certain changes in our lives just because we don’t feel ready. Sound familiar? It’s the bane of the perfectionist’s life.

I love doing things right but what if I never do them? Seth Godin talked about the popular metaphor, get your ducks in a row, in a podcast I heard recently. He recommends not to wait to get all your ducks in a row but to rather focus on what you are going to do with a duck and then get started even if you only start with one duck. LOL! (This did make me laugh.) (more…)

Why You Can’t Rely on Creative Visualization Working for You

Is all this mind stuff just a hoax? Are all these thought gurus just telling us what we want to hear and making a profit on it? I get hit with these kind of  questions too. Using mind tools, when there is so much work to be done can seem like a waste of time and an unhealthy distraction.

Being in the middle of a life direction shift and a career adjustment has got me looking at so many areas of my life. The crazy thing is that, I have had it quite good. I’ve done things I’ve enjoyed and experienced a relatively meaningful life of contribution.

Now I’m looking for more. I’m at a point were I need to grow and reach the next stage development in my life. After the age of 40 it can be hard to see how to change and shift in the new direction I feel drawn to. (more…)

Jump or Life Will Give You A Shove

What could happen if you finally took that leap to do the very thing you’ve been dreaming of doing? Or, maybe you’re like me and you just like things the way things are and you don’t want to know what could happen. Well, sort of? Actually, not at all.

I love how this video highlights the tension that exists as we develop and learn throughout life. To tell you the truth I was just lazy, and scared of making a mess, if I tried anything new. There you have it, that is what kept me in my “comfort zone”. (more…)

Habits … Beliefs … and Eagles

What do these all have in common?

I read a story about an eagle, which had been chained so long to a stake in the ground that he had worn a rut in the ground, by going around and around it.

The bird was getting old. Its master felt sorry for it and thought, “I’m going to set it free!” He took the metal ring off of its foot. Then he took the eagle and tossed it into the air. What do you suppose happened? (more…)

What You Can Do About the Paradigm Holding You Back

That feeling in your gut can be terrifying. You know, the one that comes at a moment when you need to choose. “Do I want to stay where I am in life, or do I want to move on to something else?” Myself, I wanted to dance. I didn’t know how to, but I wanted to be were people were having fun. So how did I make that happen?  What keeps some people from taking that kind of a leap?

As I look back, I realize something. When I was young it was easier to make changes or do something new. Why? I was growing, learning, and finding out about life.

As I’ve gotten older, those choices and the decisions I’ve made, have formed into my paradigm. In our youth we are still very engaged in the process.  Then, we settle over time. (more…)

Getting Started

How is it that some things, as much as we love the idea of doing them, just take a lot out of us to get going?

Inertia! This is what’s happened to me when working on getting this website going.

I love people and I love working with people. In fact all the work I’ve ever done has involved working with people or helping people in some way. Don’t get me wrong. I’m no saint!

The point is, this site is about what I love and what I do! This site is a key component of where I”m taking my career, yet getting started has been a huge challenge for me. Not because I don’t want to, not because I can’t, not because I don’t have the know-how.

Inertia is the only thing that has kept me from getting going, aside from wanting to have it all figured out before I role with it.

But I’ve made my decision and I know it’s a work in progress but jumping into it with both feel seems to be the only way to make the break. So here I am, with the very first post and I want to encourage you, if there’s something you’re wanting to do but haven’t gotten around to yet, to just go for it.

Make the decision, take action and enjoy the ride. It’s way more exiting than sitting around, waiting for everything to be perfect.
