How big of an object can one domino knock over? I’m sure you don’t need to be convinced that every action you take in life, work, career, or love, causes another action on down the line. You’ve probably seen it in how quickly office gossip gets around.

Hi! I’m Abe Stone, the life design coach and this is Coaching Really Works.
I am so glad you are here watching this video. I love looking back at things that have had an influence or impact in my life and then seeing how I’ve grown and changed.
Lessons from Simple Childhood Joys
One of those things was dominoes, you know the little toys that you play with they are little rectangles, you knock one over and it falls and knocks the next one over. Sometimes you put them in a circle, or make a shape or you write your name. I used to get together with my friends, put a couple of boxes together and make really big ones.
Now, in life, sometimes we look at life and the things we do with that linear effect, if I do this, this happens, this happens and this happens.
It is a pretty interesting approach, it helps us to kind of see the ability to reach a goal and to reach that goal in mind. We know that everything fall into place as we take action.
I recently discovered that there is another aspect of dominoes that I hadn’t really known about. It something that also plays out in our lives, though it may not play out exactly like this.
The Book The One Thing
I was reading the book The One Thing and they talked about study that was done where scientists took dominoes and the lined them up and knocked them over, but then they discovered that as they did that, one domino can knock over a domino that is approximately 50% larger than the previous domino, that is another half the size bigger, so that is bigger and bigger and bigger.[shareable]The impact of the domino effect is not only linear but also increases.[/shareable] So the impact is not only linear but also increases. And this is something that is very valuable in our lives, if we learn to realize that sticking with that domino, is not only going to make another thing happen and another thing.
You can actually do more you don’t have to wait a long way down the line for real results. Your results might come, maybe over time, you do have to wait, but when they come they can be big.
The Domino Effect on Your Life is Not What You Think
Keeping this in mind, the authors of the book The One Thing suggest that the thing in your life, the lead domino It may not line up exactly like dominoes but find something, find that thing that you know is going to have a big impact, work on that until it falls and starts the other dominoes falling.
You can apply this in some areas in your life. Maybe it can be relationships, maybe there is a new habit that you need to develop in order for your relationship to grow, maybe it is in your business or in your work, there is some breakthrough that you need to work on. Perhaps you are studying something.
What is one area that your life could be impacted in this way?
Here is a quote for today:
Every great change starts like falling dominoes.”
BJ Thornton
The affirmation is:
Every positive action that I take leads to greater and greater success.”
I would like to hear from you:
[reminder]What is one area were you went in you put some work in but you discovered that it had a greater impact on your life?Or what is an area that you would like to try this out, an area that you would like to focus and see that happening in your life?[/reminder]
