As an English teacher, working around children tends to put me in contact with all of their little germs. I had to put in some extra time teaching and all I could think about was not getting sick and fearing that I would, and the negative self-talk started.

Sure enough, I feared a fear and it came upon me, and I was pretty messed up. But then I remembered my secret weapon, yep positive self-talk. We have so much control and power through the mind. — A little extra garlic and vitamin treatment sure helped, too.

Let me tell you a quick story..

There was a man a long time ago, I believe it was during the great depression of the 20s, 30s. Anyways, around that time he worked in a bank and he was responsible for a lot of money and he had access to a lot of money.

One day he borrowed a lot of that money because he had a gambling problem and he used the money to pay off his gambling debt.

The day came when the bank needed the money, he needed to pay up and people are asking “Where is the money? Some of the money is missing.” They traced it to him.

Before they got to him he took off, he left and checked himself into a hotel.

He Talked His Body into Dying

It took them a couple of days to find him. When they found him at the hotel, they opened the door, they went in, and he was there lying on his bed. Apparently, he has been lying there for days

He just kept mumbling the words over and over again. “This is going to kill me.”

It is a sad story but sure enough, the man ended up dying a few days later and the doctors had to sight if of some sort of suicide by mental suggestion or something like that.

Well, apparently the words that he was speaking had enough power for the mind to accept it, the body to believe it, and eventually kill him. (Read Think and Grow Rich)

It is quite a sobering story if you think about it and it is something that we all need to be careful about.

How I Impacted My Health in a Couple of Weeks

In fact, I just had something similar happen to me last week and I am just getting over it.

A couple of weeks ago I got a call and it turned out that I am in a little bit of a financial tight spot and I need to take care of certain things and the stress of it, just got to be so much of my life (At the time I was concerned about the extra work I needed to put in and I remember thinking that I usually get six in these circumstances and I started worrying about it and “hoping” I wouldn’t get sick.)

[shareable cite=”Abe Stone”]Use the words that are going to serve you. Serve your health and serve your goals. Serve your life, serve your story.[/shareable]

I didn’t use those kind of words I didn’t get into that kind of thinking but it was depressing, it was stressful, I felt it in my heart and sure enough it was in my thoughts and I came down with sore throat and an ear infection and I was just going down and I realized, “I’ve got to snap out of this.”

I was able to pull back. I was able to get my health back but it only helped to remind me how specific and literal our body is when it comes to the language we used and the thoughts we think.

I have a whole other post on a story, the story that we tell ourselves is the story that our body actually lives, in our success and the things that we do and the communication we have with the people, how we act.

Post: How To Start Living Your New Story Today

The mind goes to work to bring that story and make that story true.

So you want to watch your words.

Watch your words, because your words connect to your thoughts and your emotion which will lead to your actions, which influence your health and what you do in your life.

Alright, you are probably already convinced that I don’t need do much more to convince you.

Action Step Stop Killing Yourself

I would like to leave you with one task before I go.

Just pay attention to the words you use, pay attention to the language that you use. Is it negative language? Is it tearing you down? Is it in some way impacting your body?

“Oh, I will never lose weight”, yeah you’ll not going to lose weight.

“Oh, I am so stressed”, yeah, you are going to be stressed.

Find new language that can be empowering, that can serve your health, that can serve your goals and that can serve the direction that you want to go, to be the person you want to be in your life.

Now, here is the quote for the day.

[shareable text=”Niurka”]The quality of your communication shapes the quality of your life. Every cell in your being aligns with what you declare.[/shareable]

The affirmation for the day is:

[shareable cite=”Abe Stone”]Today what serves me stays and what fails me goes. #affirmation[/shareable]

Don’t worry about the future. Don’t worry about the past, just think about right now. Use the words that are going to serve you. Serve your health and serve your goals. Serve your life, serve your story.
