Hello, this is Abe Stone, the life design coach at coachingreallyworks.com

Over the new year something interesting happened. As you know, I like posting quotes, I like posting quotes that make us think, things that make us look at our lives, look at what we are doing or just things that make us laugh.

Something interesting happen with an image quote that I put on Pinterest. As it turn out I put this on Pinterest about a year ago and I think it may have been around the time when I started my Pinterest account.

Naturally in the beginning these things take time for people to find them or get some traction.

The Suddenly Viral Quote

But after a year of this quote sitting there and I think no one clicked on it at all. Suddenly, it just started getting a lot of impressions and people just started clicking, pinning it, re-pinning it and liking it.

And in the space of about a month, a month and a half, it got over 700 re pins and about 200 likes.

That was a big deal for me and I am curious about this post because I have got other posts that have been having a few comments here and there but nothing like this one, so it got me asking: what is it about this post that reaches people in a significant way?

And when I did my research and I found out that this quote was popular all over the internet and a lot of people have been sharing it with different images and different websites. The quote says.

In the end, we only REGRET the chances we didn’t take.”

Abe Stone’s pin on Pinterest.

What is it about this quote that makes people share it, makes people interested in it and people take notice?

I think one of the things is that… It gets us to look at our lives and our time.

We have a finite number of hours, a finite number of days that we are going to be in this world.

  • What are we doing with that time?
  • What are we accomplishing?

Or even if it is not a matter of accomplishing something or being so focused on a goal:

  • Have you lived your life to the full?
  • Have you come out from behind the shadows?
  • Have you come out of timidly watching people doing things, or things happening around you and you haven’t really done anything yourself?
  • What are those decisions that you can holding back on?

Are You On the Personal Development Channel?

I know that, if you are like me and you like personal development

you like the different tools that are out there about personal development…

things that will get you thinking…

things that get you even exercising some of the natural talents that we have…

the way the mind works…

creative visualization

or affirmations

these different things that sort of get our juices flowing…

you’ll know that as we do this, as we set goals, as we look at expanding our minds, becoming something more than just an existence, ideas and things do come to us and we do see things.

We see opportunities and we get on a channel that starts to see the possibilities for reaching our dreams, for reaching our goals, for going in the direction that we are heading already and after that when these ideas come, we can be a little bit shy, we can pull back..

I don’t know if I can do that or if I have the ability to do that”

We question the ideas and I think that those are probably the ideas that people were thinking about when they read this quote.

Ask a Powerful Question

I do have one tip for you, when you get those ideas. A lot of people probably wonder, “What do you do when you get those ideas, do you get into it?”

I think there is a little filter that you can use. It’s a simple one I learned from a speaker I had watched a few years ago. I included this in my book as well.

When these ideas come, simply ask the question:

Will this idea move me in the direction of my dreams and the model of perfection that I want in my life?”

Then it is just a matter of seeing if it’s a clear “yes” or “no”.

If it is a clear “YES” without any reservation, I would suggest, just go for it.

Begin taking action in the direction of that dream or in the direction of that idea, even if you don’t see how it’s going to end or how all the steps are going to go between now and then.

Being in motion is going to make the next step appear, and the step appear.

Do not hold back.

Do not live this timid quiet life, where you are just sort of living and wonder “What could I have done? What could I do?”

Keep your mind and your heart open to receiving new ideas and taking action. (Read Awaken the Giant Within)

The Wrap Up

To close, I would like to leave you with our quote and our affirmation for the week.

The quote I found is from Henry David Thoreau, he said,

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.”

Henry David Thoreau

And the affirmation for this week is,

I allow myself to be open to new opportunities and possibilities. I am free of believing that my options are limited.”

I hope those are a help to you and I hope this short post was a help to you at some way.

And I would like to encourage you to continue to go out there and just go get them! Live the life that you want to live!
