How does pounding down cup after cup of coffee just to stay in the game sound to you? Though I do love the taste of a good cup of coffee, burning through my energy reserves on overdrive is not a sustainable plan.
Does that midday lull in your energy cramp you work and productivity? Being at the top of my game as I start my workday, is something I count on.

Hi! I’m Abe Stone, and this is Coaching Really Works.
I remember years ago feeling very tired in the middle of every day. I don’t know if that happens to you, you eat lunch and you’ve got to get back to work, you got to take care of something and you just feel your body dragging, your mind is slowing down, you go for a cup of coffee and you find some way to keep yourself going so you can make it through to the end of the day.
What You Might Be Able to Expect
Something happened to me. I started doing exercises, I started working out. At the time I started doing resistance training. My wife at that time had bought me some dumbbells. I started to try them out and I wanted to get some muscles but I realized the amazing effect it had on my days.
I no longer have that feeling of being tired or just barely able to finish the day.
I don’t have anything against napping, I know a lot of people like to take a nap or a power nap in the middle of the day. For those of you who it works, go for it? For me it never really worked, I always felt sort of groggy for the rest of the day but this, exercise, the idea of doing exercise changed the way my days went.
I started to feel more energized.
Another recent benefit that I noticed is, (You probably noticed some time back I posted some post mentioning I was working on losing my belly fat) the other day I met someone who hadn’t seen me in a while, they gave me a hug and said “Wow! You’ve really lost your belly,” and I am still working on it but that is one result.
That result has come because recently, it has been a few months, I switched my exercise routine from every other day for one an hour, to every day for thirty minutes. Not only do I do it every day for thirty minutes, I do it every morning, first thing as part of my morning routine.
Maybe it won’t happen right as I get up. Sometimes I will spend a bit more time reading, or journaling, or doing some of the other things I’ve been putting in this video series but really getting it in as early as possible. I prefer it to be done before my work starts, that is a huge key for me.
Now, I would like to suggest that you exercise, first thing in the morning part of your daily routine.
Why exactly?
Here is why:
- Get your heart rate up. Get your heart going.
- Get the blood flowing through all the parts of your body that need it. Get everything working and functioning well.
- Get lots of oxygen to your lungs, to your blood stream and best of all, oxygen to your brain, so you can get more vitality, more energy. (Read Miracle Morning)
Try Underachieving (What?)
And now, I have two tips for making exercise part of your morning routine and turning your days around and infusing them with more vitality.
- Even if you like exercising at different times of the day, going for runs, or doing workouts with friends, take at least 10-20 minutes first thing in the morning maybe for jumping jacks or a short jog. Whatever it takes, whatever will work for you. Keep it small, keep it simple and just do it.
- Building on that idea of keeping it small. A lot of people try get into something like exercise or some new goal with a lot of ambition. They want to get an hour, use a certain amount of weights, or they want to run so far, but I find that very often that goes against the idea of what you are trying to do. Some people cut themselves short because it becomes very difficult, they get exhausted, they get worn out, and then they stop, they quit. I would suggest this.. ..try underachieving!
I may not get very popular for saying this, but if you can set a small goal, do something small everyday, you will not be overachieving, you will be underachieving, but you will have a win. Then you’ll have another win. And everyday with those little wins, you will find that it will be easier for you to continue get the ball rolling and make exercise part of of infusing your day with the energy and vitality you need.
Here is a quote for today”
Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body. It is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.”
John F. Kennedy
The affirmation is:
I enjoy working out regularly and love the energy it gives me”
I hope you will put these tips into effect in your life, and make them a part of your life.
