Relax, Your Goals May Have to Wait Just a Tad

It can be so frustrating when all you want to do is make progress toward your goal but you have to wait. Yep, sometimes there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s natural to have those moments of rest or a change in pace.

Just this week I got derailed by a bout of illness. It seems to have be something going around, because some of my friends caught it too. The crazy thing is, in those moments of struggling through the fever and discomfort I still tried to look at my work and see if there was anything I could do. There were a few thing I managed but by and large I was not much good on the progress front.

In fact, I got quite depressed and overwhelmed at one point looking at my plans, goals, and to-dos. (more…)

Forget Managing Stress, Play and Get Smarter

Check out this awesome air orchestra, and try to remember the last time you let your hair down and did something silly.

I remember, when my kids were small, one of our favorite things to do together was turn down the lights in the evening, put on some dancing music, and have a “disco night.” I think I need another dose of that. (more…)

How Leaders Break Through Limited Thinking and Get New Results

Is your life running on autopilot? You deserve recognition for being able to maintain your life, family, or work at the level you have. Kudos! Now, what do you believe could be possible if you got in the driver’s seat?

Sometimes thinking is the last thing in the world you want to do. In the past, my life had largely been a reactionary one and my thinking and decisions were simply done out of necessity in order to manage events and keep my life humming in maintenance mode, following my thoughts, following other’s thoughts and ideas, following the way life happened to turn out. 5 Things Winners Do When Bad Things Happen

“Oh, my god,” I said, clasping my head in my hands; a look of horror flooding my face. While checking in at the airport I was informed that I had messed up on some paperwork and one of my kids would miss the flight.

I had planned well, prepared way in advance, and made sure everything was in order for the international trip three of my kids would be taking to be with their mother. How could I have been so careless? Now that was a big mistake, and I felt like a huge failure. (more…)

Free Up Your Emotional Resources NOW, Think Clearer, Conquer Time Management

Some of my favorite bloggers post short, to the point, posts. What is it about those short concise posts that grabs us and keeps us going back for more? I think it comes down to time. Time is a finite commodity. When it’s gone there’s no refill.

The only time we can do anything about is now. Today, time was slipping away from me in frustration over some technical problems I was facing. A little later, when reading The Power of Now for the second time, this all changed. Here’s my take-away for you. (more…)

Forget Getting Your Ducks in a Row

Will you ever be ready? …I mean really ready. So often we stop short of doing some things or making certain changes in our lives just because we don’t feel ready. Sound familiar? It’s the bane of the perfectionist’s life.

I love doing things right but what if I never do them? Seth Godin talked about the popular metaphor, get your ducks in a row, in a podcast I heard recently. He recommends not to wait to get all your ducks in a row but to rather focus on what you are going to do with a duck and then get started even if you only start with one duck. LOL! (This did make me laugh.) (more…)
