Hi! It is Abe Stone here.

Today, I have a very important video for you.

You know those goals that you set at the beginning of the year, all those things that you wanted to accomplish? You were excited! You sat down and maybe you made new year’s resolutions.

Maybe you were conservative and careful. Maybe you set one big target.

Maybe there were things in your personal life. Perhaps they were things in your business, your career, or your education. Whatever it is, wherever you are in your life, I am sure you have something that you want to get done this year.

Well, the year is half gone, so that means that you still have a great half year left, or a whole half of the year is gone.

So how do you look at it? How do you choose to look at it and use the time you have left for this year?

Well, I have a simple tip for you.

What Gets Measured Gets Improved

Since you are at the midpoint, then I suggest a mid-year review.

Just sit down, pull out your goals, wherever it is that you wrote them down, because I’m sure you wrote them down, and take a look at them. Look at all the open loops. What are the different pieces that are moving or not moving? What are the things that have gotten done. What things still need your focus and attention?

Evaluate them. Measure to see where you are at compared to where you would want to be.

I am hoping that when you set those goals in the beginning of the year, you set SMART goals. Those goals can be easily measured.

And that is going to be the key right now. You need to be able to take those and look at those things that you can measure and know exactly where you are and how far you still have to go.

Five Simple Tips

So I have five simple tips that I would love to give you..

The first one is that one.

1. Sit down to take time for a midyear review.

Just look at where things are and how things have gone, where the moving parts are and how far you are from your goal.

Second tip is actually just one question that I would like you to ask.

2.  Ask, “How well did things go?”

What worked in these first six months that are leading you towards your goal. Again, you are not measuring the goal itself but you are looking at your actions, the activities, what time you invested, what you did, and what steps you have taken to help you towards your goal.

The next one is another question.

3. Ask, “What can I do better?”

Now that you have looked at your goals from different angles and you have answered these two questions, what you need to do is to look at your goals, what you have left and see if their is anything that you need to do to correct them.

Maybe you need to do a little course correction.

Like an airplane, if it starts to go off, all you have to do is adjust it.

You are not changing your goal, you are just adjusting your path, the direction you’re taking and the steps that you are going to take.

Maybe you even need to adjust the expectations, considering what you have done and what steps you have taken so far.  You’re still working towards, that goal.

And if you have to adjust it and it is going to take you a little bit past the end of the year, be okay with that.

The important thing is, you are not changing your goal, you are merely adjusting what it’s gonna take to you get you there.

Now this next one is a special tip that I want to give you.

4.  I want you to use reminders.

Maybe you have an app on your phone. Maybe you have a calendar or maybe you just use alarms. Whatever works for you, I want you to use it. Maybe it is just using Post-its on your bathroom mirror.

I have a great app that I recommend.

It is called.. If This, Then That. I think is is spelled IFTTT.com

I started using it this year and it gives me a reminder every morning to work towards my big goal, my one big goal.

Every morning I am like, “Okay, how is the rest of my day, the things that I am doing, fit in to reaching that goal?”

Not only that, it also helps me to remember to add something to my day, in case I forgot.

5. And now the last part is to make yourself accountable.

Not just yourself because sometimes we have a tendency to let ourselves go.

Find somebody, maybe a best friend, maybe its a parent, maybe it is a spouse, somebody in a relationship, somebody you are close to who can just remind you, who can hold that vision, that idea before you and you are accountable to them.

Personally, what I have done this year is that I am going to be working with a coach soon. I am in the process of interviewing a few people that I would like to work with. I am going to decide on someone who I want to work with and who is going to hold me accountable.

They’re are going to hold that fire under me and keep me committed and working toward the goals that I have and I have set in my business for this year.

Now there you have it, five tips that can help you reevaluate your goals as you go into the second part of this year.

SMART Goals

One quick tip is: Remember to set SMART goals again. Reevaluate your goals according to the SMART acronym.

I have another post below you can check it out.

They are:

Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Realistic and
Time Specific

For now I am going to leave you with a quote.

[shareable cite=”Larry Elder”]A goal without a plan is just a wish.[/shareable]

So, don’t just wish, don’t just hope. Set goals. Be specific. Make clear plans and go get them through to the end of the year.

Okay, now for the affirmation for the day.

[shareable cite=”Abe Stone”]All of my thoughts and actions are consistent and congruent with the attainment of my goals. #Affirmation[/shareable]

There you have, I hope these short tips are of help to you in reaching your goals and making this year, the best year ever.
