Too many people sit around trying to use positive thinking to reach their goal or achieve financial success. Positive thinking is great but you need follow it through with action.

Even then, you may have made the mistake I did in taking action and using power of affirmations to move forward as you put your plans into effect.

This is the third of the series that focuses on “The way to start your day.”

Now, today’s topic is AFFIRMATIONS

Don’t Make the Mistake I Made

Last year, I had set a financial goal, a goal that I want to accomplish and reach by December 31st. I wanted to reach a very specific amount of money by that date. I written out my affirmations and I had followed all the great advice from Thing and Grow Rich, on how to formulate it and on how to make it effective.

Now, when I got to the end of the year and I looked to see if I had reached that goal, which I was naturally concerned about, I realized “Wow! I did reach the goal!”

The strange thing is that I hadn’t felt that I reached the goal because I was looking at certain areas where I was expecting to reach that financial goal and then I looked at my affirmation and I realized that my affirmation was relatively vague in the sense that with the goal that I had in mind, my affirmation made the goal come from a variety of places.

So I wanted to receive that financial goal from a variety of places. That’s how I had written my affirmation. Then I realized that I got exactly what I was affirming. So noticing that I made a decision in 2015 that I want to be more specific.

I want to take that same goal and reach it within this specific source of income. Now, I am just adjusting that focus Yes, the affirmation worked but it was not specific enough and on my end, I failed to demand it exactly the way that I wanted it.

This is something very important to take away. When you are using and engaging in affirmations, yes, they work but they are very very specific and you need to be specific. (Read Think and Grow Rich)

6 Steps To Reaching Your Goal

Now, when he originally gave this specific steps, it was with the specific purpose of attracting money into your life and reaching specific goals. You can use this in any area in your life, if you are tying to reach for a goal, or affect change, or do something that previously have been out of reach to you before.

They go like this:

  1. Fix in your mind the exact goal. In this case, the exact amount of money that you want. In any other case, it can be:
    • A specific experience that you want to have.
    • A specific area that you want success.
    • A specific activity that you want to be involved in.
  2. Determine exactly what you intend to give in return for this thing. In the case of money you will you be rendering a service or a product or will you be involved in some sort of business.
    • In other areas there may other things that you would need to give in order to receive what you are looking for.
  3. Establish a definite date for when you intend to possess the money or the goal that you desire. Be very specific. Set the date.
    • Yes, it might push you a bit, it might scare you a bit, but that is good, you need a challenge.
  4. Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire. If it is something that you want to get involved in you may need to get yourself a new circle of friends or attend certain activities.
    • When it comes to money there may be some business opportunities that you need to get engaged in.
  5. Write out a clear and concise statement. This will be your affirmation. A very clear and concise affirmation including the points above.
    • Make it in present tense
    • Make sure all your language is positive.
    • You are going towards something, its growth, positive action.
  6. Read that affirmation twice a day.
    • Once in the morning when you wake up.
    • Once in the evening when you go to bed.

The real key here is three things: you need to SEE it, FEEL it and BELIEVE that you really have that goal, that thing that you desire.

  • See it with your minds eye
  • Feel the emotions that you would have, being in possession of or being able to experience that thing
  • Believe that you can do it or have it.

So follow these simple six steps. Write down the affirmation and begin using it today.

You may want to start with a short goal, something that you can reach within 30 days but the point is to begin doing it, so you begin to receive the results that you have been looking for.
