3 Keys to Regretting Fewer Missed Opportunities (by Overcoming Fear Sooner)

It was my teenage daughter’s birthday, and we suggested she could have friends over for a part if she liked. “No, I’m okay,” was her quick reply. This was a couple of years ago.

Overcoming fear of calling people up on the phone wasn’t something she was gonna tackle just then. She new we wanted her to be the one to call around and organize it, and she didn’t feel comfortable doing that.

So, she missed an opportunity for a party I’m pretty sure she would have loved. She’s come a long way and recently planned a birthday movie outing with her friends.

6 Questions to Reconnect You to the Good You Forgot (and Make You Thankful Again)

It is said that we can retain only four pieces of information active in our conscious working memory at one time. With the 50,000 plus thoughts running through our brain each day, and many of those negative, it’s a challenge to remember the things good we have to be thankful for.

Life’s problems and challenges can start weighing you down pretty quickly. This is why the daily habit of pausing to recall at least three things we’re grateful for has such a powerful effect on our happiness and wellbeing.

3 Things to Remember When You Feel You Need to Learn More

Have you gotten complacent with what you know or what you feel you’ve learned and achieved. That was me a few years ago as a husband, a father and a dedicated community leader in a charity organization.

Sure, be happy and by all means be grateful, but stay on your toes and keep learning. It’s actually a lot of fun and it saves a lot of trouble and heartache.

6 Keys to Living Fully Before You Die

My earliest encounter with the death of a friend was when an “uncle” I’d grown up around, lost his battle with cancer. I didn’t get to see him but I remember the feeling of insecurity it gave me in my preteen years.

A few years later, I literally came face to face with death, when we had to put our dog, Spots, down after a car accident. Watching the life drain from his trusting eyes, as I held his head in my hands, was not something I was prepared for. Every time I remember that day, I am unable to shake the deep sadness that floods over me.

Are You Stuck in a Mess You Made? So? Start Over!

I’ve messed up in everything from cooking a pot of rice, to nurturing a healthy marriage. What I’m about to say may sound calloused, but there’s no shame in letting go of the past, when you tried but really messed up.

Start over with a fresh pot of rice, there’s no use in torturing your taste buds. Start over in your relationships, once you know you’ve given it your all and you realize that parting ways in love may be the healthiest solution for all involved.

The Decision Making Skill Highly Successful People Use Daily

I’m a weird guy, ’cause I shop like a woman. (excuse my lack of PC) A close friend found a great deal on phone she really liked. The nagging question at that point was, “What if I find a better deal?”

These kinds of thoughts can tend to lead to indecision and the habit procrastination. Oh, and worst of all you miss opportunities. My friend lost the deal on the phone and had to settle for a lesser deal.
