Why would you put yourself through, getting up early? After seeing a picture I posted of me reading in the twilight at 5:00 a.m. I got some skeptical reactions and comments.

Don’t get me wrong I don’t lose sleep to get up early. I’m a dedicated fan of 8 hours of sleep. I just know what I want and why.

Hi. This is Abe Stone, and you’re watching Coaching Really Works.

Today, I want to share a book with you. Just before I do, I would like to share a quote first. This quote is from Jim Rohn, he said:

Your level of success will seldom exceed your level of personal development

Jim Rohn

Now, the book that I want to share with you is based on this quote, he builds on it quite well and it is called The Miracle Morning.

The whole focus is, using the early morning for personal development, which sets up your day for success and growth.

My Friendly Encounter With Morning Questions

Just the  other day I was chilling with some friends in the evening and one of my friends looked over across the table at me and he said “Abe, do you really enjoy getting up at 5 ‘o’clock in the morning?” I thought about it for a little bit and I said “Yes, I really do. I like what I do in the morning.

He was like, ” Yeah, I have gotten up early too, but only because I had to. It felt really good but if I don’t have to, I don’t want to.”

So, he was motivated to get up early in the morning because he had things to attend to and because he had gotten up it felt good but if he didn’t have those things, he didn’t want to get up.

I think that was the key for me. I realized that I get up in the morning because there are things that I really want to do.

I want to focus on my personal development. I want to take time to read, I want to take time to listen to some good music, I want to take time for meditation, I want to take time for my affirmations and I want to be ready to hit the day with my feet solid on the ground. Not sort of, you know, trying to stay asleep, trying to postpone my day and make my day not happen.

If you think about it.. What kind of a signal are you sending to the universe when you are not really excited about getting into and taking part in the day it has given you?

The Life SAVERS by Hal Elrod

In this book, Hal Elrod came up with a simple acronym that he uses called the Life SAVERS™

The Life S.A.V.E.R.S. are six different tools that you can fit into your morning which can really turn your day around, you can do it in six minutes, you can do it in sixty minutes. Its really up to you how you use them. It is just a matter of deciding that you want to do it and finding what works for you.

So the six things that he suggests are

  1. Silence – This basically comes down to meditation. This is something that has been a little bit of a challenge for me but I will share with you some tips that I have learned, in an upcoming video.
  2. Affirmations – Now, affirmations are something that I have talked about before. You have my eBook that you have probably downloaded. If you have’t, check it out. Affirmations are a great tool for rewiring your mind to new beliefs and new ways of thinking about yourself so that your self-talk is positive rather than what many of us struggle with is negative self-doubt.
  3. Visualization – Also known as Creative Visualization. It is an amazing technique that many athletes have been using for a long time where the mind actually believes that it is engaged in an activity when practicing in your visualization, so when you go out and perform the activity you are ready and your performance is so much better.
  4. Exercise – Everybody knows the benefit of exercise but one of the main benefits is that it gets your energy flowing, it gets your blood flowing and more oxygen to the brain. So why not start the day with all that energy and all that good stuff going, from exercise, rather than doing it later on in the evening or even in the afternoon.
  5. Reading – Now, obviously, you know that I am a fan of reading and that is where I use most of my mornings for. You find that in reading you can get the knowledge that someone has gained from five, ten, or twenty years of experience distilled into a book that can give you clues to just turn your life around or go in new directions or just find solution that you need.
  6. Scribing – He uses scribing as another word for journaling. This is the one that I will admit that I am having a little bit of challenge with but I find that what is working for me is I have a notebook on my computer, in Evernote and I simply make it a point to sit down and write whatever I can.

Over the next several weeks, I would like to dive into these topics a bit more and get into them more in detail but for now, this is a shortlist to get you started and I definitely recommend that you get the book.

Go over to Amazon and order a copy and start reading.

And now for the affirmation for this week

Today my world is changing for the better, I open my awareness to my shifting reality.”

I hope you find these quick tips from miracle morning a help for you and I look forward to hearing your comments.

[reminder]Tell me: What are some of the things that you use to kick start your day? Or if you are having a hard time even thinking of getting up early: What are some of your objections? What are some of the concerns that you have?[/reminder]
